BT Increases Prices Again

Everyone knows that during the last twelve months the customer has taken a battering. Inflation is raging away and some companies that lack the skills and determination to make their savings through efficiency drives and other streamlining tactics are forcing huge price rises onto their customers.BT has announced a further 5% price increase in call charges for many customers in December - coming, unbelievably, after they already increased prices by 10% a year ago and by 9% in April. When you compare that to a Consumer Price Index that has hovered around 5% this year, it's easy to see how this could contribute to financial troubles for businesses.Shine's business calls service is shown to regularly save the majority of customers money when compared to BT packages. We know that our business will continue to grow whilst we offer fantastic services at unbeatable value and we are more than happy to welcome BT customers, who are angry at the price hikes, onto our heavily discounted calls package which will likely save them a significant sum of money. We have built our reputation on offering an alternative to those who are fed up with high prices and poor services from some of the major players in the telecommunications industry. Here at Shine we value our customers and their business and so we make it our mission to undercut the prices of such national names whilst also delivering a service which in all cases is at least as good and, in many cases, is significantly better. So why put up with costly price hikes this winter? Wages are static and many businesses are struggling with their cash flow, so increases like this couldn't have happened at a worse time. Save yourself the stress and switch to Shine Telecom today - fantastic value for business calls and business broadband.

Credit Card Machines

New government regulations mean that any business that takes credit card payments, regardless of business size, will have to tighten up the requirements regarding the transmission of customer credit card data from their machines. And as the last couple of years have shown us all, poor handling of customer privacy and information is a sure fire way to guarantee bad publicity and to dent consumer confidence in your business. Anyone not upgrading their machine could be liable under the Data Protection Act for failing to take adequate care of their clients' information. Set to roll out within the next two years, the rule changes mean that many small businesses some of whom rely on traditional low speed, poor contention telephony services are taking the opportunity to secure customer data and improve speed by upgrading to a Shine Telecom high speed, good contention broadband service. It's the perfect complement to the upgrades your merchant will recommend to your customer facing machine. Shine Telecom knows that its clients with customer-facing terminals need a speedy and secure connection for their credit card machines and our existing network of broadband provision is ideal for this purpose.Contact us today on 0845 456 6990 and talk to Richard Sheldon to find out how Shine can work with your merchant provider to help you to ensure your credit card machine is future proof and ready to continue serving your business needs.* Further information regarding the changes can be found at www.pcisecuritystandards.org

Shine Sponsors Golf Initiative

Shine Telecom is pleased to be the main commercial sponsor of a new initiative to promote golf in UK Universities. The initiative, which has been launched in the North West, aims to create playing opportunities for young golfers with a wide range of handicaps and eventually to introduce coaching and player development for those who want to improve their skills or take up the sport. The pilot scheme is working both with existing university golf clubs to help them organise and publicise events for all golfers and also universities with no existing schemes to help them get off the ground.Left to right: Paul Milne of West Derby Golf Club, Josh Clements and Oliver Craig of Liverpool University and Phil Harvey of Shine TelecomBritish Universities & Colleges Sports Manager, Tom Gee, explains, "Our estimate is that there may be up to 18,000 students who are already golfers in English Universities, but less than 2,000 are members of University golf clubs. On a national basis, there is a very real issue in retaining people in the game between the ages of 18 to 40 and helping them to continue playing whilst at University has an important part to play.""With the proportion of 18 year olds now going to University, it is also a great opportunity for golf courses that are local to a large student population, for example West Derby Golf Club who have kindly agreed to host events for Liverpool University."The sponsorship by Shine will support the staging of a regional competition, culminating in a championship final to be contested by all 10 Universities in the North West of England.
